Ronald McDonald House + Bee Boxes = 🌺🐝❤️
Healthy Hive Foundation proudly supports an incredible cause serving families in Central Texas — Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMHC CTX). Recently, we had the privilege of visiting RMHC CTX to donate 35 of our Bee Boxes, made in collaboration with Whole Kids Foundation, and received a beautiful tour of the building. Inspired by their mission and values, HHF donated these boxes in the hopes to give families and children the space to learn and try new things while they look after their loved ones. We hope that it can bring a smile to their face to taste sweet honey and see the beauty in pollinators.
RMHC CTX’s mission is simple: to keep families close and cared for while their children undergo short-, medium-, and long-term hospital stays at Central Texas hospitals. Since 1985, they have provided rooms and daily meals prepared for the families completely free of charge - providing a “home away from home” where all that matters is the health of their child. Their building includes amenities such as game rooms, a playground, family suites complete with kitchenettes, laundry facilities, a dining room and open kitchen where volunteers can cook meals for families, and even a gym. In addition to these incredible amenities, they also host the Healing Hearts Program to provide support for families who have tragically lost a child. The core values of RMHC CTX — to lead with compassion, celebrate diversity, and operate with accountability and transparency - are present in each program that they lead.
Contrary to what some may think, due to its popular name and international locations, 90% of fundraising comes from local, family-owned McDonald’s rather than receiving funding on a corporate level. If you would like to join them in their mission, RMHC CTX is always accepting volunteers to assist with meal prep and Happy Wheels Carts, as well as donations for the ever-growing need in care and support.
